Art 1 - Radial Design

We tried a brand new project this year in Pre IB Art 1 and I'm so happy with how it turned out.  Check out these great radial designs.  Students created a stencil which they used to paint the radial designs.  This project is definitely a keeper, we will do this one again next year.

Mixed Media

In Pre-IB Art 1 students learned to mix media while creating pictures of the bicycle.  The students had to make choices about color and composition while mixing tempera and soft pastel, combining drawing with repeated patterns.

Type is all around us and so is overlooked by most people.  The average person never thinks about how much thought goes into designing a typeface.




For bonus points:  Watch the video then on the first day of school bring me a card with your name and the answers to the following questions.

3.  What is your favorite font, and why?

Notice the strong horizontal lines pulling you into the picture and drawing your eye towards the subject.

Notice the repetition of the shapes of the guitars - works to unify the pic - while the colors add variety. Also important is humor.
