I posted about this game the very first year I started this blog. I'm happy to say it still exists. It is beautiful visually and has music too. Its a puzzle game but not too hard to figure out. Check it out.

Mixed Media Bicycle Drawings in Pre IB Art 1
I love to get the students mixing medias when they work. This assignment is similar to one I do with my AP students but instead of bottle we drew the bicycle. Students started out by making a viewfinder to help them find a strong composition. Then they drew three contour line drawings of different parts of the bicycle. They picked their best one and developed it into a finished mixed media piece using tempera paint and pastels.

Low Relief with Foil
This year my Pre IB Art 2 class tried a low relief project using aluminum foil. Many people have seen this done but I wanted to see if my high school students could use this to produce artwork focused on good composition and good design.
Students used paper, cardboard, string, and glue to create their designs. They then covered these in aluminum foil and sprayed it with a coat of black spray paint. Students then used steel wool to carefully remove the spray paint in certain areas to emphasize their designs.

Remind.com
I have been using Remind.com to communicate with students since last year. Its a great service for teachers to use to send students reminders about homework assignments, artwork due dates, and art show dates. The service sends a text message (or email) to the students and the best part is that your number remains private. It is one way commuication, so if you have a question for me you will need to email me, you can't text me back. I just got this email from them the other day.
I hadn't realized that I had sent that many reminders. If you haven't signed up yet, find your class code and the instructions on the bulletin board in class. Parents, if you are interested in receiving the texts as well, send me an email with you child's name and student number and I will send you instructions.

Lines and Patterns
Students in Pre IB Art 1 and AP Art used a variety of lines and patterns to create interesting compositions. Students had to think about using repetition to unify their composition and how to engage the viewer with an interesting focal point.
