This is always one of the favorite assignments in AP Art. Students use modeling paste and found objects to build texture, then they use layers of glaze and acrylic to add color.
This year my Pre IB Art 2 class tried a low relief project using aluminum foil. Many people have seen this done but I wanted to see if my high school students could use this to produce artwork focused on good composition and good design.
Students used paper, cardboard, string, and glue to create their designs. They then covered these in aluminum foil and sprayed it with a coat of black spray paint. Students then used steel wool to carefully remove the spray paint in certain areas to emphasize their designs.
This blog is for the IB Visual Arts classes at Haines City. Here we will share artist's work and discuss our works in progress. I will be posting updates on what we are working on in class as well as reminders for certain due dates. If you have any questions you can contact me through the link on our class website.
